Earlier we used to depend on manual labours for various tasks but with the passage of time technology has offered us a wide variety of gadgets to cut our expenses which are invested on manual tasks. The computer has become the most essential part of our lives which is crafted with the potential to perform various tasks within few minutes. Our personal computer comes incorporated with a hard disk drive which maintains and controls the reading, positioning and writing of the hard disk. This is the main component of this electronic gadget which also accommodates huge amount of data at ease.

The hard disk drives basically record the information by magnetizing the material directionally in a binary digit that is either 0 or 1. They efficiently read the magnetized form of the data. The disk drives actually developed a lot during the past 24 years. It actually evolved from fifty two foot diameter disk to 3/12 inches wide. Actually, the earlier disks also had less storage capacity while the latest drives have astounding and mammoth storage capacity. Few years back, the disk drives used to look like drums but now they look very sophisticated and dignified.

A typical hard disk drive contains platters, motor, read/write heads, air filter, electronics and frame. The frame basically mounts the mechanical parts which comes sealed with a cover. The Hard Disk Assembly is the sealed portion of the drive. The electronics of the drive consists of more than one printed circuit board which remains fitted on the HDA at the bottom. The disk is not required to be mounted over the computer case to copy the required stuff.

Nowadays, there are numerous companies who are manufacturing the high quality hard Disk Drives. Some of the major brands in this section are: Samsung, Seagate, HP, VIA and so forth. These companies have specialized in producing the latest in HDD technologies like S-ATA and others. The S-ATA drives are meant to provide high speed data accessibility and transfer. Plus, the rpm rate of 7200 adds more reliability to these storage devices.
