A flat roof rises at a 30 degree angle from the front wall of a storage shed to the back wall. The front wall is 8.5 feet tall and the back wall is 16.6 feet tall. Find the length of the roof line and the depth of the shed from the front to back. Round your answers to the nearest tenth of a foot.

Here, blue denotes given information, green is information which can be calculated, and red is information to be found (d is depth of shed from front to back and l is length of roof line).

The height of the opposite side of the right-angled triangle is:
opp = 16.6 – 8.5 = 8.1

For right-angled triangles:
sin θ = opposite/hypotenuse

So here,
sin 30° = 8.1/l
⇔ l = 8.1/sin 30° = 2*8.1 = 16.2
That is, the length of the roof line is 16.2 feet

For right-angled triangles:
tan θ = opposite/adjacent

So here,
tan 30° = 8.1/d
⇔ d = 8.1/tan30° = 8.1√3 = 14.0
That is, the depth of the shed is 14.0 feet

Excerpt: The Petone Workshops were a government-owned railways maintenance and repair facility located in Petone, in Lower Hutt in the Wellington region of New Zealands North Island. It took over construction and maintenance of rolling stock in the Wellington region from the Pipitea Point facility, starting in 1876, and became the only such facility in the region from 1878 until the opening of the replacement Hutt Workshops facility in 1929. The first railway workshops in the Wellington region were near Wellingtons first railway station at Pipitea Point. These workshops started out as a set of storage sheds for rolling stock when the first section of the Wairarapa Line was being constructed from 1872 to 1874. Later a repair and erecting shop was built at the site at the behest of Messrs Brogden and Sons, who arranged for the workshops to be fitted out with equipment imported from England. The building was 100 ft (30 m) long by 48 ft (15 m) wide, with a seaward side lean-to 50 ft (15 m) long and 24 ft (7.3 m) wide. A single road entered the building, in which facilities were provided for blacksmiths with four forges, woodworking and carpentry, and a machine shop.
